  1. Hey I taught you a smokey eye! Cross that bad boy off ;-)

  2. hahah you did! I feel like I haven’t experimented enough to call it mastered yet though!

  3. I just had a customer (whose obsessed with sunless tanner) purchase an MK Subtle tanning lotion and LOVES it! I’ve been using it too ever since she’s told me how obsessed she is now and it smells so good as well as giving a natural glow (I.E. no “wet dog” smell like others I’ve tried and no oompa-loompa orange color or zebra stripes).

  4. Tip I just learned from my hair stylist!! To get great curls with hot rollers: being by adding a curl cream to dry hair to make slightly moist. Use different sized hot rollers and always roll sections near face away. To remove- and here is where I always messed up royally- pull the hot roller straight down- don’t uncurl it or pull it sideways. Then finger comb out curls for a less-set-look. Hope that helps!

  5. I love this! I’m going to definitely make one for myself :)

  6. I bought the Estee Lauder self-tanner after I saw the salesperson with a great looking tan. While I like it, I don’t LOVE IT. The best one that I found was in the drugstore. I think it was Dove Energy Glow, something like that. It just had the most natural color to it. I haven’t seen it in the store in awhile.

Amanda: Thanks for the tips! Never could understand how to do a hot roller style.

    How was the moroccan oil?

    • I totally hear you. It’s tough to find the right formula since it really varies so much person to person, but I like experimenting! I recently tried Kate Somerville’s tanning towelettes and LOVED THEM. Are you fair..olive..maybe I can recommend something based on your skin tone. I really like the Dove Energy Glow and am in the middle of testing out Origins’ “Vita-Zing”. I’ll keep you posted!

I LOVE MOROCCAN OIL. It is absolutely amazing and worth 10x what I paid for it. You must try. I’ve heard amazing things about Josie Maran’s Argan oil too. It sounds like it fixes everything so I’m dying to try it!

  7. Thanks for the great reply.

I’m like a fair olive tone.

Where do you find the moroccan oil.

I just bought the Josie Maran’s argan oil and I think I’m using it the wrong way. LOL. It makes my face oily and I tried it on my hair and that just came out really greasy. Any advice appreciated.

    • I think L’Oreal’s sublime glow line of tanner would work beautifully! It’s what I use and I’m on the fair/olive to medium skin tone. I always use the one that’s meant for body on my face but be warned, it’s sparkly! On your body, the temporary sparkly bronzer can be gorgeous, but I use it on my face at night and then rinse the sparkly bronzer off at night. Actually — I’m mid-way through a post about this so stay tuned!

I buy my moroccan oil at the hair salon. I’m sure you can find it at any hair salon, or on Amazon, which sells everything.

Oh no! I really love oils even though I have oily skin, but a tiny bit really goes a long way, so I have to ask, do you have oily skin? I’d limit usage to night-only for face and use a thick moisturizer on top (if you’ve got dry skin) and for hair, use on the ends only.. just a little! I doused my hair in Rodial’s hair oil and it smelled heavenly, but I looked like I dumped salad dressing on my head. I think it can work as an intensive hair mask treatment — just work it in, maybe throw on a shower cap and leave it for an hour or overnight, then rinse out the next day. Hope that helps!

  8. You should totally try Merino Cool by Essie, it’s an awesome color!!!

  9. Hi Wendy:

    Thanks for the great answers!
I just saw a picture of you (you’re adorable!) and we both have pretty much the same skin tone.
I must say that today when I used the Josie maran oil this morning and then put my foundation over it, it looked really great and dewy. I think as just a plain moisturizer,, I will just use it at night.

    • I’m so happy the Josie Maran oil worked out a little better for you! I haven’t gotten the Naked palette yet and don’t think I’m going to. Those shades just seem like a snooze. I’m not inspired to buy, you know?

Hi Wendy–love your blog!! I just started to try a face tanner called Alpha Beta glow pads by Dr. Dennis Gross Skin Care..fabulous product!! No streaking, no orangey staining. They give the skin a nice afterglow, which I noticed after just one application. I think it’s a great product for moisturizing as skin felt softer and smoother after using these pads! Check them out and let me know what you think! :-)
